Osric 2.0 Released
-
OSRIC v2.00 is now available as a free PDF download. For those who aren’t familiar with OSRIC, it stands for Old School Reference and Index Compilation (OSRIC). It is an open gaming platform that aims to recreate 1st edition within and open gaming platform. What does that all mean? Basically OSRIC is a gaming platform that anyone can create material for and say it is compatible with OSRIC. The writer does not need to get permission or pay any fees for using the platform. The book basically represents a compilation of rules for old school-style fantasy gaming. If you ever played an early edition of Dungeons & Dragons or any other fantasy roleplaying game from the late 70’s to early 80’s, you’ll probably recognize a lot of what is contained in this game. The whole book has a really old school feel to it and you can’t be the price (free)! Even if you’re not interested in using it to create your own fantasy game, it makes a great reference book. And did I mention it’s free? Check it out!

It is definitely an insanely huge improvement over the old manuals, which were barely legible to me.

I wouldn’t personally play OSRIC, just because I have a ton of other games higher up on my list that I have yet to play. I look at it as a free reference manual to gaming’s past.
