Nothing says game session ideas for game masters like a good sci-fi movie. And who are you going to model your sweet sci-fi characters after without an icon to worship? Here is a list of the top five sci-movie series for fanboys of all-time!

    5. The Terminator – Quite possibly the most kick-ass sci-fi movies series of all time. Arnold Schwarzenneger proves that he is the baddest automaton to ever roam any time period. Subsequent Terminators haven’t been as successful, but Arnold proved that Terminators can pretty much do anything. They can even become the Governor of California.

    4. Alien – If I were to send something up against Arnold, it wouldn’t be a two-legged, two-armed alien predator. It would be a vicious alien from the deepest regions of a child’s worst nightmare. And if I really wanted to bring it up a notch, I’d just send a hive of them in after anything I wanted destroyed. I mean seriously, these things bleed acid…

    3. The Matrix – Pretty much the movie series that was the second coming for sci-fi fanboys around the world. These movies had more special moves than a box full of ninjas. And you know you’ve never been scared of a guy named Mr. Anderson before these movies came out.

    2. Star Trek – Holy fanboys, Batman. Trekkies quite possibly are the scariest fanboys on the planet. There are just so damn many of them. It’s probably because you can turn on the television and odds are there are at least one or two Star Trek shows or movies playing at any hour of the day, every day of the year. Star Trek even gave us popular ideas like ‘Shatner Day’ and ‘What Would Shatner Do?’ What’s more fanboy than that?

    1. Star Wars – Pretty much the two things that rule in Star Wars are Jedi and lightsabers. Who the hell do you think would win in a fight, Captain Picard or Darth Vader? That’s why Star Wars in the number one movie series for fanboys. That and it has grossed a bazillion dollars for Lucas, and with good reason. Everything about Star Wars rocks, except Jar Jar…

What are your top sci-fi movie series for fanboys?

  1. Though a little less well known, I am a huuuuuge fan of the Firefly series from Joss Whedon. Buffy and Angel would probably make some pretty great RPG as well.

  2. There is a pretty popular Buffy RPG actually. And I am a huge Firefly fan too. It is easily in my top three of “This series should not have been canceled” list.
