Contest: Win Sundered Skies & Savage Worlds
-
To start 2009 with a bang, we’ve decided to hold our first contest here at RoleplayingPro.com.
First Prize: Sundered Skies (Hardcover) – $35 value
Second Prize: Savage Worlds Explorers Edition (Softcover) – $10 value
Check out our Review of Sundered Skies (Savage Worlds) to see what you could win.
To enter, all you have to do is subscribe to our Blog Broadcast / Newsletter via e-mail. We are using AWeber Communications for professional, private, and secure management of our e-mail list. Once you subscribe to our e-mail list and confirm your subscription (don’t worry, it’s free folks), you will automatically be entered into the contest.

The contest will end on Wednesday, January 14th, 2009 at 7am (Pacific Time). At that time I’ll take a snapshot of all the current subscribers and randomly select two winners. The first winner will receive the first place prize and the second winner will receive the second place prize. The winners will be announced on the website as soon as they have been randomly selected.
Please contact us if you have any questions, and good luck!
Sort-Of-Legal Stuff: All prizes are being supplied by myself. I will randomly select two winners. I will contact each winner individually to send them their prize. I cannot guarantee delivery if you live in some random place, like the Republic of Congo or Somalia. I will do my best to get you the prize though, short of personally escorting it into a war-zone. If something weird happens, and people get mad at me that they didn’t win, I reserve the right to chop the books up into itty-bitty pieces and eat them, thus nullifying the contest. As I personally hate the taste of books, I highly prefer not to do this. I would much rather give them away.

What kind of content does/will the newsletter include?
January 3, 2009 at 8:57 am
Right now it is just a periodical summary of the most recent posts for RoleplayingPro.
AWeber will automatically send out an e-mail every dozen posts that RoleplayingPro has. On the 12th post, it will send out an e-mail with a summary of the last dozen posts. So if you’ve missed a post, you can check it out.
As far as the newsletter goes, I’m still working on what exactly it will entail. My goal is to keep subscribers of RoleplayingPro updated with the latest posts and information, but not to bombard their e-mail box.

Okay.
In that case, I think I’ll pass. Getting the same content to email and feed reader is sort of useless, and I much prefer Google Reader for handling non-critical content.
Good luck with getting subscribers, none the less.

Cool man, too each their own! I totally understand your point of view and thought of it before I set the AWeber account up.
I look at it this way. An RSS feed provides the user with a daily way of looking at posts from a blog. A subscriber e-mail that send e-mail maybe once every two weeks, highlighting what the last 12-15 posts were, gives the reader a chance to see any articles they may have missed.
This is how I subscribe to other sites. I have a reader that I read their posts with, and I have them deliver it to my e-mail. So I can read it there if I want.
Also, e-mail is the easiest way for me to keep track of subscribers. So for future contests, a lot of it will be based off of my e-mail subscribers.

Great idea and a great way to ensure a more consistent reader-base.
I look forward to receiving my book shortly……

How many times can I sign up? Because I’m thinking of the Frito Lay contest that Lazlo won in the movie Real Genius.

I updated the subscription button. To give people more subscription options, there are now three ways to follow the feed:
(1) RSS Reader – Using the feedburner icon to subscribe using your favorite feed reader.
(2) E-mailed RSS feed updates – Updates via e-mail from Feedburner whenever there is a new post on the website.
(3) Newsletter – A more summarized version of the e-mailed RSS feed, which is less frequent. But also, it will have occasional updates about the site as a whole.
At first I was hesitant to offer both the e-mailed RSS feed and newsletter due to possible confusion, but several people sent me e-mails expressing a desire for one or the other. So I figured, why not just offer both and readers can choose.
