On June 3, 2009, Mind Storm Labs announced the first print run of their new supplement book for Alpha Omega called “The Encountered: Volume 1”. If you haven’t heard of Alpha Omega yet, it is an Ennie Awards Nominated game for Best Interior Art (Alpha Omega Core Rulebook), Best Production Values (Alpha Omega Core Rulebook), and Best Publisher (Mind Storm Labs).

If you are unfamiliar with the Alpha Omega roleplaying game, you can check out Robot Viking’s thorough review of the game world and system entitled, Alpha Omega: a Unique Vision of a Bizarre and Fascinating Future.

The Encountered: Volume 1 is an important supplement for the Alpha Omega roleplaying game because it offers Game Moderators hundreds of recently discovered New World creatures. Each of the creatures comes with a description of the physical appearance, a list of their behaviors, game statistics, and fantastic artwork to truly bring them to life. The preview gives players a sample of ten creatures from the 200 monsters and fiends that will be found in The Encountered.

If the quality of the 21-page preview is any indication of the final product, The Encountered: Volume 1 looks to be a spectacular addition to the Alpha Omega universe. The creatures that they sample in the preview PDF are unique and unlike anything you’ve seen in other futuristic roleplaying games. It truly gives you the feel of a completely different world with things that you have never imagined.
