In doing so, RoleplayingPro is striving to become one of the most professional and popular roleplaying blogs on the internet.
About The Blogger (Samuel Van Der Wall):
Samuel Van Der Wall is an avid roleplayer who has been gaming since the early 1990’s. I started with games such as Battletech, Shadowrun (1st Edition), Star Wars (d6), and Dungeons & Dragons. I have also played card games, such as Magic: The Gathering, and many popular board games and miniature games related to roleplaying.
Over the years, I’ve spent a lot of time as both a game master and player. I’ve been in many different groups, but over the last few years have finally settled in with a good core of friends that love roleplaying. Although I have a lot of experience with roleplaying games, I still have a lot to learn about getting every ounce of fun out of our hobby that I can muster. This blog is another avenue for me to explore my creative side and further my roleplaying aspirations.
About The Blogger (John Lewis):
John Lewis started roleplaying back in 1983 with the ‘old blue box’ edition of Dungeons & Dragons. He has played and/or gamemastered the following games: Dungeons & Dragons (all editions), Shadowrun, Savage Worlds, Serenity, The Everlasting, World of Darkness, Call of Cthulhu, Dark Heresy, Hollow Earth Expeditions, Feng Shui, In Nomine, Twilight 2000, Alternity, Modern D20, and many more.
About 90% of his gaming time has been spent as a gamemaster. He also has a background in wargaming, although his focus there has always been on painting/customizing miniatures, modeling buildings and scenery, and constructing terrain. He enjoys gamemastering at many conventions through the year.
About The Blogger (Colin Dowling):
Contrary to popular belief, Colin is not an evil lawn gnome bent on world destruction. (You can’t dominate something that’s been destroyed, mwu ha ha ha.) He has been slowly planning his eventual control of the world’s population since the 80’s thanks to Marvel Super Heroes and Dungeons and Dragons. He has played these games as well as Serenity, Battletech, Modern d20, Shadowrun, Savage Worlds, Torg, Call of Cthulu, Alternity, and the shortest game of Rifts ever. He is also an avid board gamer and is becoming a hopeless addict of Fantasy Flight Games line of superior products.
I am currently relishing my opportunity to play in two different gaming groups with my three fellow bloggers. I have always been the group’s rules lawyer (with both the good and bad connotations that may imply). As my focus has continually evolved from strategy/tactics/rules to story telling, my title has changed from Rules Lawyer to Rules Analyst (with the emphasis on facilitating story). Hopefully soon, I will be expanding my GMing responsibilities as well, allowing John to remember what it’s like to play one character as opposed to an unstoppable horde of monsters, minions and masterminds…
About The Blogger (Chris Stevens):
Chris Stevens has been a serious roleplayer since the early 90’s. He both game masters and plays extensively. He is extremely familiar with Dungeons & Dragons, Spycraft, Star Wars, Shadowrun, Palladium games, and many, many others. He also enjoys creating and building campaign worlds and entire game settings and systems.
Currently, Chris has two different gaming groups. One group he plays with Samuel Van Der Wall and a few other friends. This group plays once a week and Chris and Sam rotate between game mastering duties. The players in this game have been roleplaying off and on with each other for many years and have had much fun during that time. Chris also plays in a second group with John Lewis. This group also plays weekly. Here, they play primarily 4th Edition D&D game mastered by John Lewis. This allows Chris to step back from being a game master and focus on being a player.
